How to Keep Track of Veterans
Cemify makes it simple to track veteran burials and highlight them on your public site if desired. This article covers how to mark veterans, view them in your records, and enable the optional Veteran Tab.
In Cemify, you can:
- Log the Veteran Status for a Burial record
- Filter Burial Records by Veteran Status
- Show a Star Icon next to the Burial name on the Map
- Generate a CSV or PDF Report of all Veterans in the cemetery
- Add a tab to your Public Site specifically for a Veteran Map
Marking Veterans in a Burial Record:
To identify a Burial as a Veteran:
- Go to the Burial tab and open the Record you want to update
- Locate the Veteran field.
- Select 'Yes' if the Burial is a Veteran
- Click the blue 'Save' button at the bottom left of the page
๐ By default, the Veteran field will be labeled as 'Is Veteran' under the header 'Other Information'. Since fields are customizable, the phrasing can be changed.
๐ To keep track of other information related to Veteran Status, additional fields can be added, such as 'Wars Fought', 'Branch', or 'Rank'.

Filtering Burials for Veterans
You can filter your records to easily view Veteran burials:
- In the Burials tab, click 'Filters'.
- Select the box next to the 'Veteran' field
- Select the box next to 'Yes'
- Click the blue 'Filter' button at the top of the list to filter all the Burial Records
- You can export the filtered list for ceremonies or reporting needs.

How To Add a Star to a Burial Name on the Cemify Map:
โญ Veteran Stars on the Cemify Map:
- Color โ can be changed to any color you want. Yellow is the default color
- Visibility โ this can be visible on the Admin Cemify map or the Public Map
- Accessiblity โ Right now, only Cemify Employees have the ability to turn on this feature, but once it is turned on a Star will appear in the legend on your map.

How to Generate a Veteran Report
To get a printer-friendly list of all veterans for events such as Memorial Day or Veterans Day:
- Go to the Reports Tab.
- Click the 'View Report' button to the right of where it says 'Veterans'.
- Click the Download icon to download the list as a spreadsheet (in a CSV format) or click the Printer icon to print or save a PDF of this report.
โโ If you do not have a Reports Tab or do not see this Veteran report listed, please reach out to Cemify Support at support@cemify.com. Often, this tab and/or report can easily be added to your account if it is not already there.

How to Add a Veteran Map Tab to your Public Site
As of right now, only Cemify Employees are able to add this tab to your Public Site.

Troubleshooting - Issues with Veteran Status
- If you do not see a Veteran Field under Burial Records:
- Please contact Cemify to confirm the placement of this field
- If your Veteran Report does not have a complete list of Veterans:
- This report is generated from a specific field in Cemify.
- If you are using a different field, this report may not work properly
- If Veteran Stars are not appearing on your Cemify Map:
- This feature may not be enabled on your account.
