Viewing & Generating Custom and Canned Reports

One of the benefits of having all of your cemetery records in a database-backed software system is the ease with which you can run reports on your cemetery records.  In Cemify, we offer several canned reports and the ability to generate custom reports through our filter and export features.  In combination, this means you can run reports on just about anything you are tracking data for.

In this article, we will provide step by step instructions for generating 3 common reports:  a report of veterans in your cemetery, a report of burials over a particular time period & a report of sales volume over a particular time period.  In combination, these tutorials will introduce you to everything you can do with Cemify reporting.

This Article Includes:

Please note: These steps can be used to generate ANY custom report. When exporting the report just select what information you want included to customize your report.

Generating a Report of Veteran Burials

To generate a veteran's report, we'll want to use the "Is Veteran" field as a filter for our records.  Since the "Is Veteran" field is associated with a Burial record, we'll start by clicking Burials in our primary navigation:

This will pull up a list of all burial records in your Cemify system.  Next, we will click on Filter to initiate a filter of our records:

Clicking on filter will bring up a series of filters that we can apply, based on the database fields you are tracking for burials.  In this case, we'll click on Veteran, select Yes, then click on Filter to run our filter:

This will pull up a list of all Burial records that have "Is Veteran" marked as true.

Once the filter is applied, you can then use the Export button to download the filtered list to CSV (a spreadsheet format that can be used in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, or any other spreadsheet application.)

To do so, just click on the Export button on the right.

A screen will appear that says 'Export burials to CSV'. From the drop down menu under 'Select Columns to Export' select either select "All Columns" (to export all Burial information) or "Custom" (to define exactly what columns you'd like exported):

If you choose 'Custom' select all the information you want included in the export:

After you press 'Export to CSV' this will prepare the CSV to be exported. Larger reports may take a few minutes to run, but the report should be ready within 5 - 10 minutes.

After pressing the 'Export to CSV' button you will then see a window that says 'Bulk export in progress...' and the file will be automatically downloaded when the export is complete. You can also press 'click here to download' before pressing 'Close'.

If you close this window before it has finished exporting, you can navigate to your 'Notifications' by accessing the menu on the very top right hand corner. When the export is complete it will appear in your Notifications and you can press the link to download it.

Generating A List of Burials Over A Certain Time Period

To generate a date based report, we'll use a date field as the primary field by which we filter.  In the case of generating a list of burials, let's use the Burial Date field.  For example, to generate a report of burials this year, we'll first click on the Burials tab.  Then we'll click Filter, then Burial Date > Is Between.  We'll then enter the dates for the time period we'd like (this year) and click on the blue Filter button:

This will filter your burial records based on the dates entered.  You can then select Export to download the list in CSV format (as is outlined in the previous example.)

Generating A Sales Volume Report

Certain reports (such as sales volume) are included as canned reports within Cemify.  To access canned reports, click on Reports in your top navigation:

This will pull up a list of common reports that cemetery managers find helpful.  We are consistently working to improve and expand upon the canned reports that are included.

In the case of a sales volume report, we'll click on View Report next to the Sales report:

Within the sales report, we can then adjust the date range and how we'd like the data grouped:

You can also use the "Download To Spreadsheet" buttons to download any of the canned report data into CSV format:

Wrapping Up

In combination, these three tutorials should give you a good understanding of all the reporting functionality within Cemify.  If you have any questions, or would like to suggest a canned report, please feel free to contact our support team.
