Uploading Documents & Photos

One of the benefits of having your cemetery records in a cloud based software such as Cemify is the ability to attach documents and photos to burial, sales and mapping records.  This article will explain how to upload documents & photos and provide suggestions regarding where to place common cemetery documents such as headstone photos, deeds, contracts, and more.

How To Upload A Document or Photo

The following is an example of how to upload a document or photo to a Burial record, but the same concept applies to plots, people, sales & work orders.  To add a document or photo, find the associated burial.  Then click on either the "Documents" or "Photos" tab (see the table at the end of this article for recommendations as to where to place key documents / photos):

Once on the Documents or Photos page, select "Choose File" to select the document or photo from your computers filesystem:

Once selected on your computer, the file will upload, showing you progress in a progress bar:

Once the upload is complete, remember to click Save to save the document or photo:

This document will now be stored in your Cemify system, associated with the object you were on (in this case, the burial):

Where To Upload Different Documents & Photos

There are several options of where you can upload documents and photos into Cemify, so we often get asked where different documents & photos should be placed within the software.

One key consideration is whether or not you may want to make these documents and/or photos available to the public in the future.  If you think you may want to make them public (for example, headstone photos, obituaries, etc.), we recommend uploading to Burial records.  Burial record documents and photos can optionally be made available to the public.  Please note -- at this point you can not pick and choose individual burial photos and/or documents to be made public.  You can either enable all burial photos to be public or not.  Similarly, you can either enable all burial documents to be public or not.

For any documents or photos you know you'd like to keep private (for example, deeds, contracts, lot cards, etc.), we recommend uploading to either a Plot or a Sale record.  Neither of these document types can be made available to the public.

To help determine where to place key documents and photos, refer to the following table which shows different areas of the software and common examples of what might be placed in those areas.
