Hiding a Burial from the Public Map

Included in this article:

Introduction

Sometimes a family or cemetery may wish to keep a burial private — for example, if the person has public notoriety or at the family’s request.

Cemify allows you to easily hide individual burials from the public map and search results while keeping them fully visible to staff in the administrative view.

How to Hide a Burial

  1. Open the burial in your Cemify administrative dashboard by searching for it or finding it on the map.

On the burial detail page, in the Actions menu, select Hide from public.

Confirm your choice in the popup window.

    • Once hidden, the burial will no longer appear on your public map or in public searches.
    • A small “Hidden From Public” badge will appear next to the record name for staff reference.

How to Make a Burial Public Again

  1. Open the burial you wish to make visible.

In the Actions menu, select Show on Public Map.

    Confirm in the popup window.

    • The burial will immediately reappear on your public map and in search results.
