Adding & Editing Cemify Templates
Adding New Cemify Templates
Please note: this feature is currently being beta tested with a limited subset of our customers. If you'd like to join the beta group, please send us a request at support@cemify.com.
In Cemify, we now support two distinct styles of templates:
- Custom Templates: allows you to create a custom template using our template editor. This option provides more flexibility to design your form fields and customize the layout.
- PDF Templates: use an existing PDF as a template. Allows you to map form fields onto specific locations within the PDF. This option is useful when you want to retain the structure of an existing document.
Important: only account administrators can add and edit templates. Learn more about setting and changing account permissions here.
To add a new template, take the following steps:
- Click on Account & system settings in the upper right corner menu of your dashboard.
- Select Templates in the left menu of your settings.
- Click on Add New Template.
- Select either Custom Template or PDF Template (see above for help choosing which template is right for you.)
- Follow the Editing Custom Templates steps below or the Editing PDF Templates instructions below, depending on template type.
Editing Custom Templates
Please note - these steps can also be followed to edit existing templates. Simply click on "Edit Main Template" when viewing a template from within a sale.
When creating a new custom template, it will be named "New Template" by default. Edit the name by clicking on the pencil:
For this example, we'll call the template "Right Of Burial Certificate" and save:
Next, we'll edit the body of the content by using the built in text editor:
The editor should feel somewhat similar to other text editors you've used. You can type text and select font size, font type, alignment and other formatting options using the toolbar.
One of the key benefits of templates is the ability to map in dynamic fields (sometimes referred to as merge tags.) To do so, simply click on Insert > Merge Tag and select the merge tag. For example, here is how you'd map and the ordinal day version of the date of sale:
Most Cemify fields can be mapped into templates and we frequently add additional merge tag options based on customer feedback. By continuing to edit the document and add merge tags, you can create a fully functional template, dynamically pre-populated with fields for each new sale:
Use Tools > Source Code to make HTML changes (good for custom styling like adding borders.) Use File > Page Setup to change orientation (landscape vs portrait) and adjust margins.
Once complete, templates are available to select and use as part of your cemetery workflows. Learn more about using templates here.
Editing PDF Templates
When creating a new PDF template, it will be named "New Template" by default. Edit the name by clicking on the "Edit Title" button and changing the name. Next, select the PDF you'd like to use for the template by dragging & dropping the PDF or by clicking on Choose File:
Once uploaded, the page will refresh and load the PDF into the editor. Once loaded, you can then drag and drop fields from the Cemify Fields sidebar on the right on top of the PDF:
After a field is dropped into the template, the positioning and sizing can be updated. To do so, simply single click on the field, which will turn it blue. Then, move the object by hovering over it's center, clicking and dragging. Resize the object by hovering over a corner, clicking and dragging. For example:
When a field is selected, you can use the sidebar to remove the field or adjust it's field formatting. For example, we'll set the first date of sale to just show the ordinal day (for example 1st):
Click on the Save Changes button to save changes you've made to the template. All PDF templates can then be accessed through Cemify sales objects. Learn more about accessing templates here.
Future Improvements
We have the following improvements planned for the coming months:
- ability to change font and size of dynamic fields
- ability to populate line items based on category or name
- ability to align fields vertically and horizontally with each other
We appreciate any and all customer feedback if there's something missing from this list. We can be reached at support@cemify.com.
