How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in Cemify

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Cemify account by requiring a second form of verification in addition to your email and password. When enabled, after entering your email and password, you'll receive a code via text message that you must enter to complete the login process. This helps protect your account, even if your password is compromised.

How to Enable 2FA for Your Account

  1. Click on your profile icon in the upper-right corner of the screen and select Account & System Settings from the dropdown menu.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Enable Two-factor Authentication (2FA) button.
  3. Enter your mobile phone number when prompted, then click Send Code.
  4. Check your phone for a text message containing the verification code. Enter the code into Cemify to confirm you have access to that phone number.
  5. Once verified, 2FA will be enabled for your account.

After enabling 2FA, you will receive a text message with a verification code each time you log in. You must enter this code to access your account.

How to Require 2FA for Other Users (Account Administrators Only)

Administrators can enforce 2FA for specific users within their organization:

  1. Go to Account & System Settings in the upper-right menu.
  2. Select Users & Permissions from the left-hand sidebar.
  3. Find the user you wish to require 2FA for, click the three dots next to their name, and select Enforce 2FA.
  4. The next time that user logs in, they will be prompted to add a phone number and verify it using a text message code. Once verified, 2FA will be required for all future logins for that user.

Who Should Enable 2FA?

We recommend enabling 2FA if:

  • You are responsible for managing sensitive cemetery data.
  • You want to be extra sure that only authorized users can access your account.
  • Your organization requires stronger security measures for compliance or internal policies.

For administrators, enabling and enforcing 2FA helps ensure that users within your organization follow best practices for account security.
