Adding, editing & removing plot and entity shapes from your map
This feature is currently being beta tested with a small subset of customers. If you'd like to join the beta testing group, please email us at support@cemify.com.
Adding New Plots or Entities
When viewing your cemetery map, beta participants will now notice a plus button in the bottom left hand corner of your map:
Click the button to view what object types you can add to the map. Object type options are based on the mapping identifiers configured for your account. In this case, the options are Section, Lot or Grave:
Select an object type to open the editor. For this example, we'll click Grave. This opens a map editor box for the Grave:
In the map editor box, you can start by choosing your "draw" mode - either Rectangle (for simple rectangular shapes) or Polygon (for more complex shapes with 4 or more points.) Then click each point with your mouse to draw the object:
After an object is drawn, this will enable the Edit and Labeling options for the newly drawn object. Use these to fine tune the location of the object, assign it a label and Save it:
The same steps can be used to create sections, lots and other entities in the cemetery.
Editing or Removing Existing Plots & Entities
Existing plots and entities can also be edited and removed from the map.
Start by clicking on a plot to select it. If editing an entity (such as a section or lot) just click on the entities label to select it. With the plot or entity selected, you'll see an "Edit" button in the left sidebar:
Click on edit to open a submenu of actions to perform on the selected shape. Click "Remove" to remove the shape from the map, or edit shape to open the shape editor:
Once in edit mode, you can use the move, resize and rotate options in the black editor popup to make changes to the shape, just as you can with the add shape workflow outlined above. Once the shape is adjusted, simply click Save to finalize the changes.
When editing an entity, you also have the option to Edit name which will allow you to change the name of the entity and all plots within it.
Planned Upcoming Features
Please note, we are still at the beginning of our map editing features. Over the next few months, we are planning to release the following enhancements:
- autosizing objects to certain footage measurements
- snapping objects to other existing objects
- undoing map actions
- option to add reference objects (like trees and buildings) to the map
- a quicker, more efficient way to label objects (rather than needing to type it in from scratch each time)
If you have feedback or would like us to consider other enhancements to the map editor, please contact us at support@cemify.com
